Motorola Xoom Revs Up iPad Competition

Let the tablet wars begin. Motorola Mobility (MMI) on Thursday launched Xoom, its entry into the tablet computer market and the first product viewed as a solid challenger for Apple 's (AAPL) iPad. About a dozen other tablets are expected to start selling this year, including the PlayBook by Research In Motion (RIMM) and others from IBM (IBM), Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), LG, Dell (DELL) and Toshiba. The Samsung Galaxy tablet was introduced in November.
